Many square dancers like to acquire "fun badges" or "dangles" to pin on their name tags. It's a custom whose origin seems to be lost but not forgotten. Many of these badges are treasured and sought after, others are just a fun thing to earn and have. There are hundreds of badges that signify various so called "achievements" while square dancing.
